Lodging is “Dormitory Style” in a private home with 10 acres of scenic viewsof lawn, gardens, and forest in the very picturesque old Vermont village of Jericho Center (established in 1763). Jericho Center has the oldest continuously operating village store in Vermont (and probably one of the oldest in the USA). The walk to the village is lovely. The property is 1200 feet up on the western flank of the Green Mountains and borders approximately 200 sq miles of Mt Mansfield State forest, which is accessible for hiking/walking. There is a small pond. The main “city” of Vermont, Burlington, is 25 minutes drive away. The home of the University of Vermont (established in 1793 and, as such, one of the older universities in the world), Burlington fronts Lake Champlain, one of the largest and most beautiful lakes anywhere. The center of Burlington is a lively pedestrian area with very good restaurants and a considerable music scene (where, among others, Physh got started). The waterfront is a lovely park with a long walking/bike path and a good aquarium devoted to the ecology of the lake. A swimming beach and rental sailboats and kayaks are nearby.
